Dessert - Sweetened Strawberries

The local strawberry stands are just opening up so now is the time for strawberries. If you end up with strawberries that have underwhelming flavor, there are tricks for perking them up. This is good for strawberries, no matter what the quality of the flavor is. 

It is an easy dessert and a crowd pleaser especially when you pour them over ice cream yogurt with a little Grand Marnier and a cookie.

Ingredients:
·         2 cups hulled and halved strawberries
·         3 tablespoons of sugar
Directions:
1.       Toss 2 cups of hulled and halved strawberries with 3 tablespoons of sugar and let stand at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
This not only sweetens the berries, but also enhances their natural flavors.
Options:
1.       To enhance the flavor more, add a few tablespoons of white wine, orange liqueur or balsamic vinegar.
2.       Pour the strawberries over ice cream yogurt and add a cookie
