Our Wines

(pronounced: Call - oat) Blend: 35% Viognier, 30% Roussanne, 25% Vermentino, 10% Marsanne Our 2008 Calotte Blanc displays pale green apple and gold colors in the glass. On the nose, the wine displays complex aromas of peach, apricot, citrus leaf and lime. These pick up additional notes of spice, honey, melon and green apple on the mouth, all of which are framed and balanced by a blanket of minerality on the finish.

NEW RELEASE: Our 2009 Vermentino from the BellaGrace Vineyard displays a pale green-gold color in the glass and features an exuberant nose of green apples, pear, mineral and lime. These continue on the palate, with added hints of grapefruit, all enhanced by a refreshing acidity. The wine shows surprising richness, given its acidity, with no evidence of oak on the lingering finish. It is ready to drink upon release and pairs wonderfully with seafood, fruit, and lighter pasta dishes. (Double Gold - 2010 California State Fair, Casque Wines named "California's Best Micro Winery" for white wines for this wine.)

NEW RELEASE! Our 2009 Viognier from the Cooper Vineyard displays its typical pale green-gold color in the glass. On the nose, the wine is clean and fresh, exhibiting wonderful aromas of pear and honeysuckle. The palate shows nice roundness and depth, yet it is crisp and dry, with the honey and mineral components we’ve come to love from this vineyard very much in evidence. Hints of melon are added to the mix on the long, dry finish, with no oak evidence. (Silver Medal at 2010 California State Fair Wine Competition)

(pronounced: roos - on) Our 2008 Roussanne displays a deep, golden straw color in the glass. On the nose, the wine displays classic honeysuckle and apricot notes, with hints of fresh melon and vanilla. In the mouth, the wine is rich and lush, with added notes of peach and crushed nuts. The finish is framed by sweet, but balanced, oak. This rich, full-bodied wine pairs wonderfully with flavorful white meat dishes and stronger cheeses.

The 2007 Calotte is our inaugural release of this classic Rhone style red blend. This year’s bottling blends the spicy red fruits that are the hallmark of Grenache with the richer, more structured berry flavors of Syrah. The wine was barrel aged for 21 months in a combination of French and Hungarian oak barrels (approximately 40% new). We enjoy this medium-bodied, richly aromatic wine with pasta, pizza and lighter red meat dishes.

Our 2007 Cabernet Franc is an intense, full-bodied version of the varietal. This year’s bottling also contains some Malbec to give the wine added structure and complexity. The wine was barrel aged for 22 months in a combination of French and Hungarian oak barrels (approximately 40% new). This wonderfully aromatic wine is best served with hearty red meat dishes.

Our 2007 Syrah displays classic deep purple color in the glass, along with an intense nose of black cherry, currant, smoke and pepper. On the palate the wine is full-bodied and plush, with soft, silky tannins. Notes of tar, leather and menthol are all part of the mix. The wine finishes with a subtle mineral edge and lingering hints of dark fruit and sweet oak. Our 2007 Syrah should evolve beautifully over the next several years.

NEW RELEASE: (Wine Club Exclusive until August 8th)Our 2007 Malbec displays a pretty garnet color in the glass. On the nose, waves of fig and black cherry jump from the glass, framed by hints of menthol and cedar. The wine shows good tannic structure that is balanced by a subtle, underlying layer of racy acidity. Bright blackberry and currant fruits also make an appearance. These all blend seamlessly into a long, lingering finish that shows added notes of black tea and spice.
