Meet the Winemakers
Kevin and Tim bring balance, intention, and chemistry to every step of the winemaking process. Their dynamic partnership and meticulous practices result in wines that are as thoughtful and refined as the process behind them.

FOUNDER
KEVIN STEVENSON
Kevin grew up in the farm country of Indiana, where “watching the corn grow” was a seasonal pastime and wine made only brief appearances in the form of jug bottles brought out for family gatherings. After college, he began a career as a systems analyst, but a creative restlessness soon pulled him north to Minnesota, where he spent the next decade immersed in the music business as both a musician and producer.

Everything changed in 1989 during Kevin’s first trip to Napa Valley with his wife, Ann. That visit sparked a lasting passion for wine, leading to years of travel throughout California and Europe, where he was drawn to the balance, structure, and restraint of classic French wines.
In the late 1990s, Kevin and Ann relocated to Placer County, settling in the vineyard community of Clos du Lac. There, Kevin immersed himself in viticulture, managing the 17-acre estate for more than a decade. Fruit from Clos du Lac became a cornerstone of numerous award-winning wines.

Casque Wines is the realization of Kevin’s long-held vision: a Franco-American expression of the Sierra Foothills, blending Old World sensibility with New World fruit and site. Inspired by France, grounded in California, and shaped by a deep respect for the land, Casque reflects Kevin’s belief that great wines are built in the vineyard and refined with intention.

WINEMAKER
TIM WEYRICH
Born and raised in a Paso Robles wine family, Tim grew up immersed in vineyard and cellar life at his family’s Martin & Weyrich Winery. Early hands-on experience across all stages of production laid a foundation that was later broadened through harvest work in both Paso Robles and New Zealand, shaping a winemaking approach grounded in observation, restraint, and balance.

In 2010, Tim relocated to Sacramento and began working as an Assistant Winemaker in Amador County. There, the rhythm of growing season and the demands of harvest refined a practical, site-first approach to winemaking. He joined Kevin at Casque in 2013 and quickly became instrumental in shaping the winery’s identity. His influence is evident in a house style focused on freshness, structure, and wines built to pair naturally with food while aging gracefully over time.
Since then, Tim has overseen Casque’s growth from 1,600 to 5,000 cases, expanded the portfolio by nine varietals, and continued to evolve cellar practices with careful lot separation, fermentation trials, and hands-on blending that highlights site character rather than obscuring it.

Outside the winery, Tim’s time is largely spoken for by his wife Meghan, and their kids. Running from one game to the next, keeping a golf club in the trunk just in case, or tending the vegetable garden that reminds him daily that good results can’t be hurried.
